The Libra project has started on the observation that pooling chemical collections from academic laboratories produces higher diversity than it is normally found in commercial collections. The D3 hosts the central repository for published or patented compounds made by medicinal and organic chemists in Italian universities and public research centers. This high quality chemical collection will provide easier access and new opportunities to these compounds.
Technology & know-how available at the IIT - D3 PharmaChemistry helps Libra at building a state-of-the-art repository of compounds and make them available in a format suitable for screening campaigns. Libra showcases and distributes the compounds to both public and private screening labs to the advantage of the Italian drug discovery community.
